Hosted hashrate and buying a miner

Buying a miner means you own the ASIC. You house it or ship it to a host, you pay the electricity, and you handle repairs. Hosted hashrate at Infinity Hash is a rental of SHA-256 capacity. You do not own the machine.

Owning the ASIC

The machine is yours. You choose the model, wait for it, and give it a home with enough electricity and a way to reject the heat. Air cooled units are loud. Hydro cooled and immersion cooled units need a liquid loop. You pay an electricity bill for every hour it hashes. You replace fans, boards, and supplies when they fail, or you pay a host to do that and still own the box. An ASIC miner is that machine. The Antminer S21 XP Hyd, the Whatsminer M60, and the Antminer S19 Pro are SHA-256 Bitcoin miners with a page each, the kind of box ownership starts from. If you run it yourself, you also choose a mining pool so a found block is split instead of waiting on a block from your machine alone. You can sell the machine later. Its resale follows whatever buyers will pay for that model.

Renting the hashrate

You rent a number of TH/s. Hashrate is that number of SHA-256 attempts per second. The ASIC stays in the farm, and Bitcoin mining still runs on that hardware. Bitcoin mining and electricity is handled inside the day: the electricity is taken out of that day's mined bitcoin, and there is no separate electricity bill. Maintenance and repairs are in the TH price. Bitcoin mining rewards and payouts shows the bitcoin mined, the electricity taken out, and what is left.

You do not own the machine. Hashrate cannot be resold.

A Bitcoin block, mining difficulty, and a Bitcoin halving are the network rules around either choice. They apply when the ASIC is yours and when the hashrate is rented. Free Testing is the way to see a day before you buy.

No. The rental is not something you can sell on. A machine you bought yourself is a different object, and you can sell that machine.

You do, as an electricity bill, whether the machine sits at your site or at a host. With rented hashrate, the electricity comes out of that day's mined bitcoin instead.
