How traditional Kadena mining works

Kadena is a proof-of-work blockchain that runs many chains in parallel (Chainweb). The native token is KDA. Smart contracts use Pact.

Mining uses the Kadena algorithm (Blake2s-based). Competitive hardware is ASIC: Bitmain KA3, iBeLink BM-K, and Goldshell KD-series. GPU Kadena mining is not competitive against those units.

Kadena mining algorithm

Kadena PoW is Blake2s over Chainweb headers. An ASIC must speak this algorithm; SHA-256 or Eaglesong firmware will not work.

Chainweb means multiple chains produce blocks. Pools assign work across chains. You configure one worker; you do not run 20 miners for 20 chains.

How to set up a Kadena mining rig

  • 1. Choose Kadena mining hardware

    KA3, BM-K, or Goldshell KD units from the list below. Compare W per TH on the Kadena algorithm, not Bitcoin efficiency numbers.

  • 2. Set up a KDA wallet

    Use Chainweaver or another Kadena wallet. Addresses are not Bitcoin formats. Exchange deposits work if the venue lists KDA.

  • 3. Configure the ASIC to the pool

    Enter the pool’s KDA URL. Worker is usually account.worker or wallet.worker per pool docs.

  • 4. Be cautious with firmware

    Only Bitmain, iBeLink, or Goldshell firmware for that SKU.

  • 5. Start mining

    Confirm KDA shares. Chainweb can look “bursty” on a single chain in the UI; trust the pool’s 24h hashrate, not one chain’s instant graph.
