Bitcoin mining rewards and payouts

Bitcoin mining rewards and payouts

A block reward is the bitcoin paid for adding a block: new bitcoin plus the transaction fees in that block. A payout is your share of mined bitcoin sent to your own address. They are not the same event. A day here shows the bitcoin mined, the electricity taken out, and what is left.

What comes off the mined bitcoin

The block pays new bitcoin plus transaction fees. A Bitcoin halving is the cut in the new-bitcoin part, and the fees stay separate. Since 2024 the new-bitcoin part is 3.125 BTC per block. A mining pool splits the block across the hashrate, and your hashrate, in TH/s, is your share of that split. The pool fee comes out of that day's mined bitcoin. Bitcoin mining and electricity is the electricity taken out of that same bitcoin. An operations fee of 3% also comes out of that day's mined bitcoin. What remains is the net reward for the day.

Where a payout goes

Payouts are sent to your own BTC address once the payout threshold is reached. The amount and the day are not guaranteed. You choose the address and the minimum in payout settings. A payout is not the moment a block is found. It is the send, after the day's deductions, when the amount waiting has reached the minimum you set.

The attempts behind that day run on SHA-256 ASICs such as the Antminer S21 XP Hyd, the Whatsminer M60, and the Antminer S19 Pro. Each of them is an ASIC miner. The race is Bitcoin mining, The batch that pays is a Bitcoin block, and Mining difficulty is why the same TH/s is a different share of the network after a retarget. Hosted hashrate and buying a miner is the rental those payouts come from. You can watch a day before you buy on Free Testing.
