SC Mining
How traditional Siacoin mining works
Siacoin (SC) is the token for Sia, a decentralized storage network. Storage contracts and proofs are the product; miners still run a separate Blake2B-Sia proof-of-work to produce SC blocks.
Blake2B-Sia ASICs (Goldshell SC-series, iBeLink BM-S) are the hardware on this page. The same Blake2B family is also used by XBT (BTCB2), a Bitcoin fork that switched PoW from SHA-256d to BLAKE2b. A Siacoin ASIC can be pointed at SC or at an XBT/BTCB2 pool; it will not mine SHA-256 Bitcoin.
Siacoin and XBT mining pools
Pick the coin first (SC vs XBT), then the pool. Firmware stays Blake2B; stratum and payout address change.
-
f2pool Siacoin:
sc.f2pool.com:7788, wallet.worker, PPS. Official Sia wallet recommended for payouts. - Sia mining pool index: Current SC pools and hashrate.
- Lazarus Pool (XBT / BTCB2): Public Blake2b Bitcoin (XBT) stratum; any Siacoin ASIC can connect. Payouts are on that fork, not mainline BTC.
Blake2B-Sia (and XBT)
Siacoin’s PoW is Blake2B-Sia. It is related to, but not always identical in miner firmware to, plain Blake2B (SiaClassic). Use a pool and firmware pair that names Siacoin or Blake2B-Sia.
XBT/BTCB2 is a Bitcoin consensus fork that retargeted PoW to BLAKE2b so existing Siacoin ASICs can hash it. Supply and addresses follow that fork’s rules, not Bitcoin Core. Pointing an SC miner at an XBT stratum pays XBT, not SC and not BTC.

How to set up a Siacoin (or XBT) mining rig
-
1. Choose Blake2B-Sia hardware
Goldshell SC or iBeLink BM-S ASICs below. Decide whether the worker will mine SC or XBT; do not mix payout addresses across forks.
-
2. Set up the matching wallet
SC: Sia wallet. XBT: a wallet/address for that Blake2b Bitcoin fork, as the XBT pool documents. Never paste a BTC SegWit address into an SC pool.
-
3. Configure the ASIC
SC example: f2pool
stratum+tcp://sc.f2pool.com:7788. XBT example: Lazarusstratum+tcp://stratum.awokenlazarus.xyz:23334with the pool’s username rules. -
4. Be cautious with firmware
Vendor firmware only. “SC to BTC” cracks are malware.
-
5. Start mining
Check the pool shows the coin you intended (SC vs XBT). Storage hosting on Sia is a different job than this PoW.
Frequently asked questions
SC is the token for the Sia storage network. Mining SC is Blake2B-Sia PoW. Hosting files is a separate protocol. Site: sia.tech.
XBT here means the Blake2b Bitcoin fork (BTCB2): Bitcoin-derived consensus that replaced SHA-256d with BLAKE2b so Siacoin ASICs can mine it. It is not BTC on SHA-256.
Yes, by changing stratum and payout address. It cannot mine both at once on one worker. Income is whichever pool you are pointed at.
Not Bitcoin Core SHA-256. Only the XBT/BTCB2 Blake2b fork (or Siacoin itself).
No. Hosts provide disk and collateral. Miners hash Blake2B-Sia. Different hardware, different software.
