XTM Mining

How traditional Tari mining works

Tari is a dual-layer project: a Minotari base layer plus a digital-assets layer. Base-layer mining uses more than one PoW. The ASIC-relevant path on this site is SHA3x (SHA-3 / Keccak family), which is what Goldshell XT-BOX and XT Card hash.

Tari also has a RandomX path (CPU, merge-mine related to Monero in the original design). SHA3x ASICs do not replace RandomX miners; they are a separate work stream. Configure the pool for SHA3x, not RandomX.

Tari SHA3x mining pools

Use a pool that lists algorithm SHA3x (sometimes labeled XTM-SHA3X):

  • LuckyPool: Regional SHA3x stratum (for example tari.luckypool.io:6118) and SRBMiner --algorithm sha3x examples.
  • Tari miningcore / project pools: Check official docs for current stratum hosts (miningcore.tari.com has been used by the project miner).
  • MiningPoolStats: Search Tari / XTM and confirm the SHA3x row, not the RandomX row.

Tari mining algorithm

SHA3x is Tari’s ASIC/GPU-friendly PoW (SHA-3 based). Goldshell XT-BOX (~580 GH/s, 400 W) and XT Card (~100 GH/s, 65 W) are the SHA3x ASICs on this page. They will not mine BTC, KAS, or RandomX Tari.

Hybrid mining means a share of blocks can come from RandomX. Pointing a XT-BOX at a RandomX pool will produce zero valid SHA3x shares. Read the pool’s algorithm column.

How to set up a Tari SHA3x mining rig

  • 1. Choose SHA3x hardware

XT-BOX or XT Card. GPUs can run SHA3x via miners such as SRBMiner; they will not beat those ASICs on efficiency.

  • 2. Set up a Tari wallet

Use a Minotari/Tari wallet from tari.com (console wallet or documented GUI). Payout addresses are Tari, not BTC.

  • 3. Configure SHA3x stratum

Example: LuckyPool tari.luckypool.io:6118 with the pool’s wallet=diff format. On GPUs, pass --algorithm sha3x. On the ASIC, use the vendor UI pool fields.

  • 4. Be cautious with firmware

Goldshell firmware only for XT units.

  • 5. Start mining

Confirm the worker is on SHA3x/XTM, not RandomX. Hybrid networks make this mix-up common.

Frequently asked questions

Tari is a digital-assets protocol with a Minotari PoW base layer. XTM is the ticker used for that base asset on mining sites. Official: tari.com.

Both exist. ASICs on this page are SHA3x. CPU/RandomX is a different miner binary and pool.

No. XT-BOX is SHA3x. Merge-mining with Monero is the RandomX side of the design, not this ASIC.

XT Card is the low-power card (65 W, 100 GH/s). XT-BOX is the 400 W 580 GH/s box.
